Matt Stewart is an Associate Director in the AtkinsRéalis Bioresources team, leading the Bioresources International Market strategy as well as the business’s Biorefinery and Circular Systems Centre of Excellence. A subject matter expert on the circular economy and bioresources, Matt applies his global experience and deep knowledge of circular economy principles, bioenergy, and organic resource recovery to enable businesses to set and achieve their sustainability goals.Matt’s career has led him across the globe, having been based in Australia, the USA and United Kingdom, as well as having had the privilege to work on projects in New Zealand, the Middle East and Europe. This experience has spanned multiple consulting roles as well as having worked for Barwon Water, a Water Utility in Australia.Further to this global experience throughout consulting and water utility roles, in 2022 Matt undertook a 6-month global study tour connecting with industry leaders, innovative technology companies, water industry experts and circular economy enablers. This has provided Matt with insights into how best to unlock the potential within the sector for decarbonisation and maximising resource recovery, ultimately enabling circular economy principles and making steps towards a more sustainable future through the deployment of innovative processes and products.
