Kirsty Scott
head of network intelligence & DSO development,
Scottish Power Energy Networks
Kirsty is a highly motivated mathematics graduate with a passion for applying analytical skills to real-world challenges. Armed with a strong academic background, she transitioned into the electricity industry, where she thrives on the intersection of theoretical knowledge and practical applications. Her analytical mindset and attention to detail enables her to unravel complex problems and devise innovative solutions. Kirsty joined Scottish Power in 2009, where she undertook various Commercial and Market development roles focussed on the optimisation of coal, gas and hydro power stations and the development of balancing market and ancillary services. Since 2016, she has been responsible for the stewardship of the Distribution and Transmission Price control contracts, ensuring programme control, optimisation and performance across over £5Bn of TOTEX. In 2023, Kirsty was appointed to establish and lead SPEN’s Network Intelligence and DSO development function – which recognises the increasing importance of data and information across Electricity Transmission and Distribution and includes new roles across Data Governance, Open Data and Applied Analytics. Kirsty believes that mastery of Data and Information is fundamental to success, and that these roles are essential to realising the transition from Distribution Network Operation to Distribution System Operation - a key enabler of the UK’s transition to Net Zero and unlocking access to data and information for customers, stakeholders, and the wider society.
