Jenny Russon

Senior Research, Policy and Campaigns Officer, The MCS Foundation
Jenny Russon is a Senior Research, Policy, and Campaigns Officer at The MCS Foundation, a charity focused on the decarbonisation of homes, heat, and energy. With over 3 years of experience in energy transition research and policy, Jenny's expertise spans a broad range of topics, including heat decarbonisation, planning policy, and removing barriers to microgeneration deployment. Her recent comparative studies—on heat pump deployment across the UK and France, and lessons from solar PV deployment—provide insights for scaling up heat pump deployment in the UK. Jenny leads the Foundation's work on energy systems decarbonisation, including low-carbon flexibility and the review of energy markets. As part of this, she gave evidence at the Energy Security and Net Zero oral committee on distributed flexibility, defending the importance of domestic demand-side response and unlocking small-scale renewable energy flexibility. At Utility Week Live, Jenny will chair the Decarbonisation of Heat panel and contribute to the discussion on Delivering Low-Carbon, Flexible, and Affordable Heat for Customers, sharing her expertise to drive progress towards a net-zero future with accessible, low-carbon heating solutions for households and communities.
