Dr Jamie Bright leads the DSO Data Science team at UK Power Networks. His team combines a blend of power systems experience and data science excellence to create transformative and cutting-edge software and open data releases.Jamie’s background is in solar energy research and grid integration, having pioneered and published algorithmic development of how we model the sun and how those feeds into our networks. This skill set was brought into reality with a photovoltaic forecasting software development project for Singapore Power, offering a world first distribution network internal forecasting deployment.Jamie’s work now extends to all data science and development activities from within the newly formed DSO at UK Power Networks. The emerging technologies built in house include facilitating day-ahead flexibility markets with constraint forecasting, giving advanced notice for market planning to our fast-tracked curtailable-connection generation customers, as well as releasing high value datasets on our open data portal.
