Chris Connolly
business development manager,
E.ON
Chris started in the industry in 2007 at E.ON and he worked in a variety of roles in the Industrial & Commercial sector, primarily in sales roles but latterly in a commercial role. Early in his career he was a nominated finalist at the ‘Office Based Newcomer of the Year’ category at the National Sales Awards. In 2016 Chris moved to a Bristol Energy (a start-up in the industry) to head up the B2B Direct Sales channel prior to market entry and built the sales channel to a £3 million annual revenue via a combination of successful OJEU bids and direct client acquisition. For reasons of work-life balance he returned to E.ON in late 2017 to re-establish a midlands base and worked as a propositions manager, launching new propositions as well as managing a double audit with PWC on a Renewable product. He moved into the growing area of energy solutions in 2019 and has worked in business development roles in metering solutions and district heating, where he worked on large heating, cooling and private wire contracts totalling £12 million. In summer 2022 he moved into the Residential Solutions team with responsibility for developing partnerships and unlocking Innovation funding opportunities. This role involves creating collaborations with tech start ups, DNOs and various industry participants. Working on projects such as the Strategic Innovation Fund and Green Home Finance Accelerator has unlocked a passion for tackling the challenge of unlocking scalability with low carbon technologies in the home.
