Andrew Dixon would describe his role at Welsh Water as an ‘Energy jack-of-all-trades’ The Energy team oversee the operation and maintenance of Welsh Water’s 85 renewable energy sites, endeavouring to get the best financial performance and achieve regulatory targets as well as achieve savings on the energy and gas consumed by the business and lay the groundwork for achieving the business’ Net-Zero aspirations. Andrew leads a young team which, between them cover a variety of duties from 24-hour operations, electrical engineering, Operation and Maintenance, Regulatory compliance and commercial purchasing. Critical to this are sound information-based decisions and maintaining an excellent track record with OfGEM. Andrew is working with Welsh Water’s Process Safety group and external advisors to ensure safety remains number one priority within Welsh Water’s Hydrogen innovations. Navigating the challenging energy market of 2022 has been one of the real successes of the past 12 months. Andrew is currently overseeing the Energy Department’s investment plans for Welsh Water’s 2025-2030 business plan.
