Women's Utilities Network

WUN was started in 2018 when a group of likeminded women, working in utilities, united around a common cause. The five founders were not only passionate about the industry they worked in, but also passionate about the contribution women were making and could continue to make in the future.

The Utilities sector still lacks diversity and with many women still being underrepresented. “Women now comprise 30% of the sector, a rise from 26% in 2022, with a corresponding 30% representation of women in leadership positions. The water industry has the highest levels of female representation at 35%, an increase of 7%.”….”Women and ethnic minorities are underrepresented compared to the UK as a whole and both women and employees from ethnic minorities are leaving at increasing levels.” Source Energy & Utility Inclusion Measurement Framework, 2024.

WUN has now created quite a movement. With over 7,500 members and followers, 60+ partners and provision of a wide variety of virtual and in person events for members to attend as well as a free mentoring service. Listen to the podcast with Angela Peart & Hayley Monks on why they were founding member of this movement.
